A few simple habits will help keep your Bijou Betty jewellery looking its best.

Everyday care

  • Avoid contact with perfume, body lotions, moisturisers, hairspray, cosmetics and other chemicals, as these can damage the finish.

  • Remove jewellery before showering, bathing, swimming, exercising or going to bed.

  • Keep jewellery away from cleaning products, chlorine and salt water.

  • Handle chains and clasps gently, taking care not to pull or catch them on clothing. 

Sterling silver jewellery

Sterling silver may naturally tarnish over time. To help keep it looking bright, gently wipe with a soft cloth after wearing and store in a dry, airtight pouch when not in use.

Avoid silver dips, harsh cleaning products and abrasive materials. Take extra care around pearls, stones and decorative details.

Silver- and gold-plated jewellery

When needed, gently clean your jewellery with a soft, dry, non-abrasive cloth.

Avoid silver dips, metal polish, abrasive or chemically treated polishing cloths and ultrasonic cleaners, as these can damage the plating or protective coating. Do not scrub or soak your jewellery.

Keeping your jewellery dry and avoiding contact with chemicals will help protect its finish.

Stainless steel jewellery

Wipe with a soft cloth. If needed, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and a little mild soap, then wipe away any residue and dry thoroughly.

Avoid harsh cleaning products, metal polish and abrasive materials, as these may damage the surface or finish.

Stretch bracelets

Gently roll your bracelet over your hand rather than pulling it wide. Avoid overstretching the elastic or tugging individual beads and charms.

Remove before sleeping, bathing or exercising, and keep the elastic away from heat and chemicals.

Pearls, opals and other stones

Clean gently with a soft cloth. Avoid soaking, harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners and excessive heat.

Do not rub stones or pearls with abrasive polishing products.

Storing your jewellery

Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined jewellery box to prevent scratches and tangling.

Keep away from humidity, direct sunlight and heat, and avoid storing jewellery in the bathroom.

For sterling silver, an airtight pouch or suitable anti-tarnish bag can help reduce tarnishing.
